A new kind of publishing. Stories written by everyone, owned by everyone.
What is TaleTogether?
TaleTogether is a collaborative fiction platform where the community writes novels together, one chapter at a time. Every 72 hours, contributors submit their version of the next chapter. The community votes, and the winning submission becomes part of the book — permanently, with the author credited.
The finished books are published and sold. Contributors earn a share of the revenue proportional to the votes their submissions received. The more the community loves your writing, the more you earn.
We are not a writing exercise. We are not a fan fiction site. We are building real books, with real authors, for real readers — and we are doing it together.
How It Works
The process is simple. Each book starts with a story outline — the community votes on which premise to develop. Once an outline wins, the writing begins.
Every 72 hours, contributors submit their version of the next chapter. Each submission is read and voted on by the community. At the end of the voting window, the submission with the most votes becomes the official next chapter of the book. The author is credited as a co-author, and their vote share is recorded.
This continues until the story reaches its natural conclusion — typically 10 to 20 chapters. The completed manuscript is then edited, formatted, and published as a real book through established publishing channels.
You can contribute at any stage — one chapter, every chapter, or just vote. Every vote helps shape the story and supports the writers you believe in.
How Earnings Work
100% of book revenue goes directly to contributors. TaleTogether takes nothing from the books you help create. The split is calculated by vote share — the more the community loves your writing, the larger your cut. The current illustrative model is $0.04 per vote received.
To be clear about where we are: TaleTogether is a new platform. No books have been published yet. The earnings figures shown in your profile are projections based on the illustrative rate — they are not money owed and no payments have been made. When the first book publishes, the final revenue split will be confirmed and payouts will begin.
The platform sustains itself through optional future features, not by taking a cut of your earnings. That commitment will always be communicated transparently if it ever changes.
Winning a chapter is not required to earn. Submissions that receive significant votes — even if they do not win — contribute to your overall vote share. The system rewards quality writing at every level.
Your earnings tally is private. Only you can see it in your profile.
Where We Are
The community is voting on story outlines for Book I. Submit your premise or vote for your favourite.
The winning outline becomes the foundation. Chapter I submissions open and the 72-hour voting cycle starts.
The manuscript is finished, edited, and prepared for publication with all co-authors credited.
Book I is published. Revenue share is calculated and contributors receive their earnings.
With Book I complete, we open voting for the next story. The platform grows with each book.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a professional writer to contribute?
No. TaleTogether is open to anyone. The community votes on the best writing — not the best credentials. Many great writers have never been published.
What rights do I keep over my submission?
You retain authorship credit for your winning contributions. By submitting, you grant TaleTogether a licence to include your work in the published book. Non-winning submissions remain yours entirely.
How long does a chapter submission have to be?
Submissions can be up to 5,000 words. There is no minimum, but longer, more developed submissions tend to perform better in voting.
Can I submit to more than one story at a time?
Yes. Once multiple stories are running simultaneously you can contribute to as many as you like.
When will I get paid?
Payouts begin after the book is published and revenue is received. The timeline depends on the publishing process. We will communicate clearly with all contributors before publication.
What if my submission doesn't win?
Non-winning submissions still accumulate votes, which count toward your overall earnings share. Writing that resonates with readers is never wasted here.
Is this free to use?
Yes. Creating an account, submitting, and voting are all completely free.
Does TaleTogether take a cut of the book revenue?
No. Right now 100% of book revenue goes to contributors, split by vote share. The platform covers its costs through optional future features like subscriptions or tools — never by taking from what you earn. If that ever changes, we will be upfront about it well in advance.
Terms of Use
By using TaleTogether you agree to the following terms. These are intentionally plain — if anything is unclear, contact us.
You own what you write. By submitting a chapter, you grant TaleTogether a non-exclusive licence to publish it as part of the collaborative book if it wins a vote. Non-winning submissions are not published and remain entirely yours.
Be decent. Submissions must be original work. Plagiarism, harassment of other contributors, and attempts to manipulate voting will result in removal from the platform.
Projected earnings shown in your profile are estimates based on an illustrative rate. No earnings are guaranteed until a book is published and revenue is received. The final revenue split will be communicated before publication.
TaleTogether is a new platform. Features, timelines, and the revenue model may change. We will communicate significant changes to registered users.
